I was facing this problem in my office from a long time and now i am sharing the solution for this problem with you guys.
After installing SP3 in my XP Pro Machine Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc) stopped working.
It gives you this ERROR “The pre-release version of Remote Desktop Connection has expired. To download the full version of Remote Desktop Connection. go to Windows Update or contact your system Administrator.”.
If you are facing the same problem the solution is here.
Copy mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll from “C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$”
to “C:\WINDOWS\System32″.
